As I was waiting to cross the street near Tokyo station to have lunch in the Imperial Gardens, mounted police stopped all traffic so a royal carriage procession carrying the Emperor & Empress of Japan and foreign dignitaries could proceed down the street. It was an incredibly rare experience! I never knew the Japanese Royal Family used horse & carriage processions to move around the city.

Me too!! It was a fabulous flight. JAL has one of the best business and first class services in commercial aviation!! I’ve flown in many, and still find it higher quality, attention to detail, fine Cuisine and outstanding beverages & liquors. More important is their consistency and safety!!

On the 787 there's such an annoying high pitch ring during portions of the flight its unbearable for me.
Hello and thanks for your comments. That’s the hydraulic system pumps for flaps, landing gear and ground maneuvering. It’s loud in between the economy classes, above the wing (that’s where the pumps are). They’re not always in use though. Airbus have the same high pitched sounds.

It’s a typical sound for the hi bypass engines on newer airliners. Power settings account for the changes in sound pitch

I think they’re. GENx engines. Fantastic airplane. Quiet, comfortable, efficient, and luxurious smooth ride at 550 knots. It really is a “Dreamliner”!!

Hello, We taxied to the runway on our own. The angle of the sunlight reflecting off the turbofan blades and the frame rate of the iPhone camera made it look like the engine was not spinning. Note how the spinning blades appear to change rotation direction. That’s the giveaway. Wishing you great adventures and fun travel
